Time zone overlap
Time zone overlap is the number of hours during which two people in different zones share working time. International remote job posts usually require a minimum, typically two to four hours, and that requirement effectively decides which countries can apply for a given role.
It is the silent filter on international applications. A post requiring four hours of overlap with the US west coast rules out half of Europe without saying so. Reading that requirement properly, and knowing how to negotiate it or offset it with an async working plan, completely changes the map of roles open to you.
